GOD'S COMPASSION
DAY TWO

Verse: Psalm 103:8

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious,

Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.”

Yesterday, we explored God’s faithfulness. We learned to thank Him for the blessings He gives us. Today, we will look at His compassion as another way God shows that He loves us.

The key attributes of God are His lovingkindness, grace, and mercy. His compassion and faithfulness are additional characteristics of God, primarily through Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son. Jesus showed His love for us through His death on the cross. Moreover, Jesus had compassion for us in that He did not want us to be lost to destruction after death, as we are all sinners and need redemption.

I was a single parent raising a daughter, and God showed me faithfulness and compassion by giving me what I needed. I always seemed to have a job, health insurance, a roof over our heads, food on the table, and clothes on our backs. My parents and family were there for prayerful support and offered their shoulders to cry on. I may not always have my wants, but God had/has ensured all my needs were met and still does.

Think of a time or two when God met your needs, especially when you needed them. God is amazing and shows His love for us in many ways—through others and experiences.

Today’s Prayer:

Lord, please help me feel your compassion towards me. Please help me to be compassionate to others that I meet. Thank you for loving me and helping me to love others.

Amen.

God's Faithfulness

DAY ONE

"The Lord's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,

For His compassions never fail.

They are new every morning; Great is your faithfulness."

-Lamentations 3:22-23  ( NASB)

We all have feelings from time to time (and some of us all the time) that God does not love us.  Some persons feel forsaken.  Read the verse again and be assured that God does indeed love you through His faithfulness.

Try to remember from your past the last time God blessed you, or something happened that was soooo....good, you just knew it had to be of God!  Praise God once again for that right now!!!  And hold that blessed thought throughout this day.  Ask Him to help you remember other answered prayers and praise Him for it.  Do this throughout your day.  I truly believe, and I know I do at times, we forget what He has done for us.

Write down one or more blessings in your journal.  Ponder it in your heart.  Try to do this daily and you will feel your heart soften as time goes by, and know that God does indeed love you.  If you feel you learned something special today, write your thoughts in your journal to reflect on it at a later time.

Today's Prayer:

Thank you, precious Lord, for loving me as you do.  Help me to understand how you want me to live.  Your faithfulness is indeed Great!

Amen.
